The Boxmasters In the bay'

Odyssey

(Billy Bob Thornton/JD Andrew)

I never poked an eye out with a stick
But I fought and won and I′ve been licked
What an odyssey it's been
Sometimes anxious and sometimes zen

I never escaped underneath a sheep
But I′ve slipped out the window when things got deep
What an odyssey it's been
Full of enemies and friends

It's not over though the tank is not quite full
My hand still grips the rope and I′m damn sure gonna pull

There are miles and miles and miles and miles ahead
I′ll keep drivin' what else would I do instead
There are miles and miles and miles and miles behind me
I′ll keep drivin' so the past can never find me

I won′t trace that path again
But I'll bring along old friends
Elating, devastating
What an odyssey it′s been

I never drank wine from a goat bladder
But I've drank from a bottle on Jacob's ladder
What an odyssey it′s been
With a scowl and with a grin

I never had my brains dashed out
But I′ve come close there ain't no doubt
What an odyssey it′s been
Sometimes thick and sometimes thin

It's not over though the tank is not quite full
My hand still grips the rope and I′m damn sure gonna pull

There are miles and miles and miles and miles ahead
I'll keep drivin′ what else would I do instead
There are miles and miles and miles and miles behind me
I'll keep drivin' so the past can never find me

I won′t trace that path again
But I′ll bring along old friends
Elating, devastating
What an odyssey it's been
Elating, devastating
What an odyssey it′s been
